How long will you stay with us on our wedding day?

Standard Coverage starts at the venue the bride chooses to get ready & finishes when you sit down for your wedding breakfast.  Full Coverage is an extension of this to include both speeches & first dance.

Does Andy take all the photographs or do you contract/use other photographers?

Andy takes all images; A.L.S Photography do not contract or use other photographers.  All images on this site have been taken by Andy.

Do you ever photograph more than one wedding per day?

No, this allows Andy & Sacha to focus on the day, offering his clients the optimum service.

How far will you travel to cover a wedding?

We will travel anywhere within the UK & only charge extra for travelling outside of a 50 mile radius.  Extra travel expenses are charged at cost & will include fuel (currently 40p/mile).  Sometimes an overnight stay may be required depending on start or finish times.

Will you cover weddings abroad?

Yes, again travel expenses (flights, accommodation, transport) will be charged at cost.

Do you take any formal photographs?

Yes, most clients require some formal family photographs.  Andy prefers to keep these to a minimum, enabling him to get them done efficiently with the minimum of fuss.  He can concentrate on getting the bride & groom back to their guests as quickly as possible.  He is then able to capture natural shots while they mingle & enjoy themselves.

What camera system do you use?

Andy uses the latest 'Top of the range' Canon Professional Digital cameras with a variety of professional quality lenses.  Andy has made great investments in this equipment to ensure it gives the most reliable & finest quality results.  Back-up equipment is always at hand in case of unforeseen failure.

What are the advantages of using digital cameras?

This system allows Andy to work creatively in all natural lighting conditions, even candlelight.  Capturing the ceremony (when permission is granted) without using flash, with near silent equipment.  He has an instant facility that can check for exposure, blinks etc.  He is now able to get shots that were previously unobtainable when wielding bulky camera systems on cumbersome tripods.  Clients also have the added advantage of ordering a reprint of a black & white print in full colour or vice versa.  Above all the print quality is outstanding.

Do you use 'digital manipulation'?

All images are individually assessed for exposure, colour & contrast before being sent to the lab for printing onto the latest photographic paper.  Minor blemishes can also be touched up when necessary.

How many black & white photographs do you take & do you charge extra for them?

All photographs are captured in colour.  Images are changed to black & white before printing, at no extra charge.  Andy can also print tones (such as sepia/blue/rose).  The ratio will depend on individual clients tastes.  Colour is generally used for scene setting shots, detail, formal groups & some bride & groom portraits.

How many pictures do you take during the day?

There is no limit to the amount of shots taken on your day.

I have attended weddings where the photographer's appearance is 'scruffy', what do you wear?

Andy & Sacha wear suits to all weddings, they like to 'blend in with the wedding', so they can work quickly, quietly & unobtrusively, capturing the day as it happens without drawing attention to themselves.

Do we get to see the proofs of the wedding pictures before we get our album?

No, the most professional way of presenting your images is in a complete album.  This will include all images agreed at a pre-wedding appointment plus all the best shots of the day.  Shots not used are those deemed inappropriate to the design of the wedding album or the story of the day.  These usually consist of blinks, duplicates & missed expressions.  The advantages of using this system are:

- No extra charge for album pictures (this can prove extremely costly after the event when you have to include the added cost of reprints, added pages & overlays etc.).  You pay a fixed all inclusive fee regardless of how many images are in your album.

-You don't have to make any decisions about which images to keep or go through any grueling selection or 'hard sell' procedures.

- No needless waiting for your finished album.  Photographers who use a selection process system can often take months to complete an album.

- You have the advantage of using Andy's professional expertise in designing the latest albums, using different size prints/layouts for maximum creativity & effect.

How long after the wedding day can we expect to receive our album?

Depending on the time of year & the availability of your chosen album, it will usually be available for collection 4 to 5 weeks after the wedding day.  This timescale can increase at certain times, especially the Christmas holiday period.  No expense or time is spared when creating your album.

How many photographs are in completed albums?

This will vary depending on your chosen coverage option.  Typically the 'Standard Coverage' album will house between 80 & 120 images (difference is dependent on your preference in the mix of print sizes).

Can family/guests order reprints after the wedding?

Yes, anyone can order photographs from your finished album.  A contents page will be supplied with the album along with ordering information for prints frames & parents albums.

What happens if I want reprints several years in the future?

You contact Andy in the usual way & order them, reprint prices will obviously vary slightly over the years.  All files are kept indefinitely.

How long will our photographs last?

We are only interested in using labs with printing processes that are archival & they assure us that prints will outlive us, especially when kept in an album.  Technologies change all the time & we may be able to offer other types of prints as & when they become available.

Can we see the other shots taken on the day that aren't included in the album?

Yes, you are welcome to browse through the shots from your day, reprints of which can be purchased in the usual way.

How will we get our album?

You are free to collect your album directly from us or we can arrange carriage for you at an additional fee.

Do you have insurance?

Yes, Andy is covered by Professional Indemnity & Public Liability Insurance.

We have not attended one of your weddings, neither has anyone we know.  Therefore how can we be assured of your credibility?

Please refer to our testimonials from our past brides, grooms & their family members.  Andy is a Craftsmen of the Guild of Wedding Photographers and is in regular contact with them.  Finally, Andy & Sacha both have clear CRB (Criminal Records Bureau) Enhanced Disclosures, dated 14th July 2005 and are valid for 3 years.  These can be seen upon request.
